Before, Fluffed & Beyond the Fluff
I often find that I learn as much from a client as they may learn from me and
that, once things get started, new ideas and inspirations have a way of
presenting themselves and a space evolves into what it is supposed to be. This client was hosting a party and needed to get organized. That was done first and then artwork was redistributed throughout the house and some accessories were added. Since then, we have gone Beyond the Fluff and continue to find ways to allow this home to live up to its potential, including adding lamps, pillows, and more.
Here’s the living room.
BEFORE:
FLUFFED: The furniture
arrangement remains
the same, accessories were added from other parts of the home, and the
wall pieces moved or added (also from other areas of the house) and then arranged to create balance. The
family portrait remains; everything else has found a new home within the house.
BEYOND THE FLUFF: The homeowner decided to switch
out the chairs from her family room to the living room; new lamps, pillows, and
floral arrangements have been added, and this is a whole new room!
Now,
here’s the family room. I must admit, I
was a bit skeptical initially about the chair switch – no more. It really turned out well and the artwork
really shines.
BEFORE:
FLUFFED: Some of the
homeowner's beautiful artwork was placed within one space where each
piece complements the other. She also has since added a flat screen television opposite the sofa which has opened up that area.
BEYOND THE FLUFF: So, here are the chairs and lamps
that formerly were in the living room. A
few new pillows were added to bring some attention to the sofa. The geometric design in the pillows not only complements
the artwork, but pulls the room together.
This
is the other end of the family room, just off the kitchen area. Very minor adjustments were made to
dramatically change the feel of the space.
The table was pushed to the side and the room was decluttered. Note that the desk housing the home’s computer can be closed to create
even more space.
